OWG is dedicated to the memory and support of Breast Cancer victims and survivors
“When God closes a door, He opens a window.” That was one of my mom’s favorite quotes. I grew up with an eternally optimistic mother who always found the good in things. She found the good in people, she found the good in everyday life and she was especially adept at finding the good during challenges. When Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993 she managed to find positive aspects, even during her incredibly challenging battle. We lost her in 1994 and while it was nearly impossible, I managed to somehow focus and learn to concentrate on “the good.”
As time progressed and my family grew, I worked at various jobs to help make ends meet yet I found the most enjoyment during my volunteer hours with my kids’ sports teams. I was good at coordinating team images and making them come to life. Mom owned a successful graphic design business back in Northeast Ohio and it seemed like some of her talent had worn off on me. It wasn’t until the owner of the local business for which I worked decided to move and I was facing another job change that I realized I should be using my skills, my talents and my local contacts to build something for myself and for my family.
While a door was closing, a window had been opened and I chose to sail through it.
Open Window Graphics was born.
Just before launching OWG my mother in law was diagnosed with breast cancer. The disease hit home again but thankfully, through her strong will, a wonderful sense of humor, her amazing grace and a great medical team she beat the disease and is cancer free.
OWG will make annual donations to Breast Cancer organizations to help fund research in the hopes of finding a cure.
